Waitangi whānau fun day is expanding to include a touch tournament 

As part of this year's Waitangi Whānau Fun Day, a family touch tournament being held at the Raetihi Rec. Tournament facilitator Troy Brown is hoping to make it an annual event held on the Monday of the annual long weekend.

The games start at 2pm and registrations are now open.  This is a fun whānau event so to help spread the players around, whānau entering a team must be all from the same family and NO ring-ins are allowed. Entry is FREE however all teams need to be registered with the Ngāti Rangi office by Friday the 5th of February @ 5pm. 

Rules:

  • Teams  are made up of six players consisting of: One member over 45 (male or female), one member under-13 (male or female), two males and two females
  • Each team must provide a referee for other games
  • Each team must be colour coordinated OR wear a uniform
  • Tries; 2 points for over 45 and under 13, 1 point for the rest.
  • 15 minute games with no half-time break.

Ngāti Rangi, Para Kore & RDC partner to promote Zero Waste by 2020 

Ruapehu Para Kore - Waste Advisor (Part-Time)


Become part of the vision for all marae within Aotearoa to be working towards zero waste by 2020. Para Kore Marae Inc. is seeking a self-managing waste advisor to provide waste minimisation mentoring and advice through to marae within the wider Ruapehu District. The position requires approximately 15-18 hours a month.

You will help facilitate wānanga, undertake waste audits on marae and give presentations to marae committees over a number of years to help marae reduce waste. You will need a degree of fluency in te reo Māori and knowledge of tikanga, be experienced in working with Māori communities and be passionate about zero waste, composting and reducing waste.
