Waiata Wednesdays 

Ahead of the signing of our Deed of Settlement with the Crown on 10 March, 2018, this Wednesday (31 Jan) we start a series of kapa haka practise sessions open to all ages. If you are unable to join us, we have already uploaded a couple of our Ngāti Rangi waiata to the Treaty section of our website including Ruapehu E which was composed by Che Wilson during negotiations last year. We are still working towards finalising the venue and time for our Signing.

14 Feb - Maungārongo Marae from 7pm-8pm

A date for signing Treaty Settlement has been announced 

Following the overwhelming endorsement by uri of the Crown’s offer to settle our historical Treaty of Waitangi claims, it's with great pleasure the Ngāti Rangi Trust and Treaty team can now confirm our Deed of Settlement, Rukutia Te Mana, will be SIGNED ON: Saturday 10 March during a formal ceremony here at home
We are still very much in the early stages of planning however as soon as more information becomes available, including the venue and time, this will be publicly shared. Ngā mihi

Keen to win your whānau FREE ENTRY to the 2018 Ruapehu Express? 

The Ruapehu Express is on the 24th of February and is an amazing opportunity to head to the hills and explore some of the lesser-known tracks and trails of Tukino, Karioi and Rangataua.
Since the event started a couple of years ago our Taiao team have been working closely with organisers to identify and mitigate any cultural and environmental concerns which can possibly arise from running such an event and through this mahi, we have been offered TEN FREE ENTRIES to give away to uri

Entering is easy…
EMAIL comms@ngatirangi.com with the names, addresses and day-time phone numbers for any whānau you would like to go into the draw along with which leg of the Ruapehu Express you would like to enter them in: 
Mountain Bike - 58-km or 25-km
Run/Walk - 16-km & 21-km
By midday on 7 February.

A couple of conditions…
a) All entries will only be accepted by emailing comms@ngatirangi.com and MUST be received by 9am on Tuesday 7 February. All prizes will be drawn at random under supervision with winners notified by 5pm, 7 February
b) Entrants must be NRT uri over the age of 8-years-old
c) Entry passes are transferable within your immediate whānau but may not be offered for sale or exchange
d) These free entry passes can only be used for the 2018 Ruapehu Express event.

Tira Hoe Waka 30 Year Anniversary Pākohe Powhakanui 

From Te Tira Hoe Waka Committee...

To conclude the 30-year anniversary celebrations the Tira Hoe Waka is hosting the Pākohe Powhakanui sharing three decades of our Iwi wānanga. This function includes a three-course dinner and live entertainment being held on Thursday the 18th of January at the Whanganui function centre – Whanganui race course from 3pm.

The cost is $40 per ticket or tables of eight for $320 and to book a seat or table please contact Brendon Morgan 021 105 3994, email admin@tirahoewaka.co.nz or head to tirahoewaka.co.nz

During the evening, uri who have participated in the Tira Hoe Waka over the last 30 years will have an opportunity to be presented to our pāhake and receive a 30-year anniversary Pākohe Powhakanui taonga. Each participant will need to identify: their Marae, Hapu and the first year they participated as either a roady or paddler. To be involved in these presentations please contact Brendon before 9am Thursday 18 January.
