There is a large amount of information we need to collect and capture as an iwi – from where our traditional sites are to what’s happening in our local rivers. Doing this as an entire iwi makes the job achievable.

To this end, Ngāti Rangi Trust has developed three monitoring apps – one for mapping cultural sites, one for collecting information on the health of eels, kōura and other fish, and one for tracking issues on farms, eg rubbish or stream clearance.
